An amazing number of people get themselves arrested each year. In some cases arrests are made in error. Statistics show that the majority of people arrested have not committed abhorrent crimes such as murder, robbery or assault. Most of those people arrested each year are ordinary citizens that may have made a stupid mistake. When arrested in Orange County Bail bonds are often the best way to be released quickly.

Not all people that are arrested can be kept in custody until their cases are heard. This is impractical and unfair. People are considered to be innocent until they are proven to be guilty. Cases lag behind and it may be months before a case is heard. That is why a large percentage of accused are released until their cases can be heard by a court of law.

In the majority of cases where release is ordered, the accused must nevertheless pay a cash deposit to the court. This deposit serves as a kind of guarantee that the accused will actually show up for the case and that he will not infringe on any of the conditions of release. The cash must be paid to the court before the accused can be released.

Many accused simply cannot raise the cash necessary for their release. This is when a bondman comes in handy. These lenders are willing to make loans to eligible accused and they will pay the deposit immediately. The accused will have to sign a contract and will be charged a hefty fee for the service rendered. In most cases the accused will be required to provide collateral such as the family home.

When arrested, the very first priority should be to get legal representation. It is most definitely better to leave the bail arrangements to the attorney. The attorney will help his client to retain his rights, including the right to remain silent. If a bondman is needed, the attorney will be better able to select a reputable person or company. The lawyer can also make sure that the agreement is fair.

It is only natural that the system has critics. These critics are of the opinion that release only leads to more crime. They forget, however, that every accused must be viewed as innocent until their cases have been heard. The justice system simply does not have the resources to keep every accused incarcerated until their cases can be heard. This process can take months.

In many cases it is deemed better to let the accused continue with his life. This is to protect families, to allow bread winners to continue providing for their families and to make sure that the social structure is maintained. In short, it is simply not fair to keep all accused in custody when statistics show that the vast majority of cases do not lead to a conviction.

Being arrested is a serious matter. It is best to get a lawyer as soon as possible and to remain silent until the lawyer is present. Getting bail entails that certain conditions are to be observed and it is most certainly best to keep to those conditions. Failure to do so may lead to being arrested again and spending a long time in jail awaiting trial.
