There have been countless floods as a result of Tropical Storm Debby, and The Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided these tips to help those that are affected by a flood recover quickly and stay as safe as possible.

But, if you should find yourself trapped in your home during a hurricane you will want to know how to react to the dangers of a hurricane, not solely how to prepare for one. Reacting well in the face of a natural disaster may help you save your life and the life of those that you are with.

Have a guaranteed issue health plan so your family is protected. You will find this extremely helpful when you need to go to the hospital after an accident with one of your loved ones. Hospitals will be helping those who are prepared.

Generally speaking, you will want to make sure that you do some of the following things, although any other precaution and actions that you can take during the hurricane itself to help protect you and your family can also be enacted. Turn on all of the lights in the home and the lights outside of your home. This way, you can be sure that your home is visible even when it gets very smoky.

When you have been affected by water damage, you should be sure that the problems are dealt with quickly. That way, you can be sure that your operations are able to resume as soon as possible. Many companies have worked hard to establish methods that will ensure a quick stabilization of property and the mitigation of damage. This allows families can return home and businesses can resume operations.

Still, however, finding a safe room in your house for your family that does not have any windows or glass doors in it is highly recommended to further protect from the danger of broken glass during the storm. After finding a safe room to weather the storm, a family can lie on the floor or under something sturdy to stay safe.

Overall having a plan is the best way to prevent any serious problems, especially in regards to your family and loved ones around. This plan should consist of an escape route, a worst case scenario strategy, and effective communication throughout. Keep these things in mind and it will be much smoother sailing through the storm.
