As technology expands, so does education. As institutions of higher education, colleges and universities often employ modern technological techniques to enhance learning. This means that college students have to be equipped with the basics if they want to be successful in school. Here are a few pieces of technology that will help you through school.

They trust that they need a Facebook page but don't know how to use it. They're told that twitter is the marketing platform of the future, and yet when it comes time to tweet, they have no plan on how to use it.

Computers are absolutely essential! They are used for everything. And while you can get by without owning a computer of your own (thank you library) your college experience will be worlds better if you have your own. Professors assign online readings, you have to write papers, submit assignments online, participate in web-chats, make presentations, and so on. Having your own printer is equally useful, although you can get by without your own much more easily.

First off, the reason schools in Phoenix offer social media training because it represents a basic principle of marketing: exposure. Would any of the big companies get business if they didn't have exposure?

What about those hot start-ups that seem to take off? Do you think they could have had similar success if their name wasn't spread around? The answer is no. Exposure is absolutely necessary if you want to get customers to buy your product.

Without letting people know that your company sells waffles, no one will think to buy a waffle from you when they want one. Exposure is what helps customers to take a chance on your services.

These are great for both entertainment and study. If you want to enjoy your music or videos without outside distractions, these provide great audio experiences. But beyond the fun, these work great when you are trying to concentrate in noisy areas. If you find yourself in a busy cafeteria, study lounge, our apartment living room, these could save your concentration.

Twitter has over 550 million active registered users. 135,000 new users sign up every day. The program is growing phenomenally well, and the best thing is that they're all in one, free place. If you can just get their attention, you can reach just about anyone in the world.

Smartphones are actually great resources for students. Often during class, professors will ask students to verify a fact, pull up a quote, check on online assignments, and a number of other things that are best achieved on smartphones. Students can check on assignments on the run, keep electronic notes or flashcards in their pocket, and study with a number of mobile aps.

Second, you have an opportunity to connect with your audience in a real way. The public loves and trusts transparent companies.

Social media offers you a way to share a bit of your company's personality (funny, serious, helpful, truthful), especially if you can get people coming back to you for a funny joke, or latest news on a case, etc. If you can get people to consistently follow you because of something you provide, then you've made a deep connection.

That connection can often translate into sales or referrals. Use social media to build connections with your audience. Those are the two major assets social media can bring your business.

Finally, there are a myriad of online and mobile apps and programs that are designed for students. They can be used for practice quizzes, flashcards, notes, projects, papers, graphics, storage, sharing, etc. There are so many options out there and schools (and even individual professors) often come up with their own. The technological possibilities seem endless. The trick is to find the devices and programs suited to you. Graphic design students, art students, linguistic students, and accounting students all have different needs. Figure out what specific electronic devices will best suit your needs and you will be sure to find the computer technology in Phoenix that you'll need!
