Let's face it, most of us don't even think about what an amazing thing our eyes are. We see color, distance, and everything in between. We usually don't do anything about our vision until we are forced to because we can't see signs or can pick out the words in a book. We really shouldn't wait till then to take care of our vision. Here are some things that you can do on a daily bases to take care of your eyes.

What you eat is everything! Things like broccoli, bell peppers and brussel sprouts are great for your eyes because they are high in vitamin C. Another thing that is really good for your eyes is sea food that has omega-3 fats which protect the bood vessels in your eyes.

What is Lasik? The procedure is a type of refractive surgery. A surgeon will cut your eye, opening a flap in the cornea. Using a laser, the surgeon will then reshape your cornea thereby correcting vision and focusing problems in your eye.

Understand The Costs. You need to make sure that you comprehend how much glasses and the associated costs will run you, especially if it is your first time needing them.

Glasses can be extremely expensive, with the combined price of consultations, frames, and lenses running over $500. While there are always options that you can pursue in order to satisfy your eyewear needs for cheaper, you should realize how much poor vision will cost you without an insurance plan to help.

As you look into this procedure, keep an open mind. Take all the suggestions of the professionals under serious consideration and avoid making the call based on emotionally based desires. The last thing you want is to have the surgery go wrong because you're determined to ignore suggestions to get what you think should be possible. Risks and Side Effects. Because Lasik is a surgery, there are some risks and unpleasant side effects that can occur. Immediately after the procedure patients may experience dry eye. Lasik can decrease tear production on a temporary basis, leaving your eye feeling dry. You may also notice that a reduction in night vision or 'disturbances' in your vision like halos around light sources, etc.

There is no standard across every insurance plan, and there are probably some extremely high-priced policies that do go a very long way toward paying for your glasses, but you should know that a vision insurance add-on that you might purchase along with your regular insurance policy would generally only pay for part of the costs.

How Much Does it Cost? While the cost will vary from place to place and office to office, it can cost up to $3000 per eye. Lasik is becoming more affordable as the technology improves and advances in the field are made. Check with your vision insurance provider to see if Lasik is a procedure that they cover and you may be able to reduce the cost of surgery even more.
