Writing is a skill that is very crucial in any field because written content is the primary way for humans to communicate. Of course, editing services are also sought out in order to proofread and refine any written work before it is given to the public. If one has what it takes to write and edit, then he or she should check out some of these career fields.

First of all, one an be an academic editor who edits academic works like theses or dissertations. Of course, one must have the necessary credentials in his or her particular field before embarking on this path. For example, if one wants to be an editor of philosophy dissertations and the like, he or she has to have the necessary degrees in philosophy.

Aside from that, one may also be a marketing content editor. This job, unlike the previous, does not need all those credentials as a marketing content editor will only be handling promotional content. Nowadays, this type of job is quite in demand since the demand for a good marketing team is higher than it used to be.

One may also go into the field of editorial journalism wherein he or she will be editing anything media related. He or she could edit the articles that are to be posted in a magazine or a newspaper. Anything that is to be published in print media have to go through these editors first for proofreading and checking.

If one is a fan of books, then maybe he or she would like to get a job as a book or novel editor. This job is quite an interesting one as it would involve proofreading and refining the works of actual authors. Usually, publishing firms would hire extra editors in the event that the author does not have his own editor and may need to outsource one.

Freelancers would be glad to hear that freelance editors are also in demand nowadays. Since the big boom of the internet, freelance writers have been getting a lot of work from various clients. Along with freelance writers, freelance editors are also in need as many clients need to review their own written content.

Finally, there is also the opportunity to become a script editor, which is a more artsy job as compared to the rest. A script editor edits scripts of stage plays, films, or probably television commercials. Since they are the ones responsible for proofreading the lines of people in the limelight, they play a very important role in production of any stage play or movie program.
