A Southern California large group health insurance policy provides different kinds of coverage depending on the company. An HMO, or health maintenance organization will have certain rules. Many people do not like the rules they impose.

A restriction that is objectionable relates to networks. An HMO will have a list of doctors and hospital that can be used. In some coverage plans, one primary physician will coordinate the medical services on an individual. Any referrals are made as well.

The dictates of any insurance policy regulations, tell what the insured employee may or may not do. An employer will choose from available plans. A plan may say you have to be treated in a specific hospital. It may have a list of approved doctors.

Most now have a schedule of co-payments for the varied services and treatments. When someone gets a new job, the company may require a waiting period before they can get coverage. The employee pays a part of the premium in most cases.

In some cases, an employer will offer a group coverage plan to employees. However, some companies require the employee to assume the entire cost of the premiums. Good benefits often allow a company to attract the optimal employees, and that may be an incentive for the company to pay part of the premiums.

The business must sustain itself by spending conservatively. When offering inclusion in the group plan, an employee must be full time. Full time is defined by the insurance company as someone who works a minimum of 25 hours per week. Most full time employees work a 32 to 40 hour week, however.

Another qualification is that 75 percent or more of the employees must take part in the group coverage. However, if someone is covered by the policy of a husband or wife, that person is exempt. As for the employer qualifying, he has to pay at least ten percent of the premium.

Dental care and vision care including glasses are sometimes covered. It is usual for a co payment to be required for these services. The same is true when it comes to prescription medications. The employee pays a specified portion depending on the policy. A new pair of glasses may be covered every year or every two years.

For individuals living in the state, a Southern California large group health insurance will be a major advantage to them as employees. The employer and the insurer agree on what the group policy will cover. A prospective employee may choose to take a job based on the quality of the insurance benefits. Often a business owner will be willing to provide more coverage to attract employees who will enhance his business profitability.
