Parents are confused when the time comes to buying their children's prescription glasses. They enter the opticians and are often overwhelmed with the amount of frames on display. The amount of glass frames to choose from can be at least over 100 styles. Many of the styles are suitable for children including the designer styles.

The first steps when you first visit the opticians shop is that they will look over your child's prescription and discuss what type of lens and frames would be suitable for your child. They will discuss what type of prescription lens would suit as in near or long sighted. There are ways to help you in this decision making process.

A stronger lens is often recommended when children are involved as they tend to break the glass easier due to the nature of being a child. Ask for the advice of the optician in suggesting a strong resistant lens and frames hopefully one which does not scratch too easily.

Anyone who has children know they are not always careful as they could be when it comes to their glasses. They tend to break their frames easily as they are renown for fidgeting with the frames and lens all the time. There are little hinges which hold the frames together, the downside to this is that they can easily be broken if the child forgets and is a little rough with the spectacles.

Any parent will tell you to buy at least two pairs of glasses each time you visit the opticians. The reason behind this thinking is that if one pair breaks there is always a spare pair in the house or in the school locker. This is a perfect answer to any emergency until your reach the opticians.Even better ask your optician if they can design a pair which will cope with all the sports you child will be attending.

Buy insurance for your child's glasses. This may appear a little extreme and you may say no thank you. Ask yourself how much you will need to pay for glasses throughout the year if your child keeps on breaking them. Always ask what is included in the cost of the warranty.
